Severe turbulence caused loss of altitude on United Airlines flight to Dublin

first_imgUpdated 19.30A NUMBER OF passengers on a United Airlines flight that landed in Dublin Airport this morning sustained minor injuries when the plane lost height while in the air after experiencing severe turbulence.It is understood that the Boeing 757, which was flying from New York, lost altitude suddenly during the descent into Dublin. It landed safely in the airport just before understands that one elderly person was taken to hospital by ambulance with a cut to their head and seven other passengers were treated at the scene for minor surface injuries.A spokesperson for United Airlines said the plane encountered “severe turbulence” during its descent, during which the seatbelt sign was illuminated.“The Boeing 757 with 129 customers and 8 crew on board landed safely at Dublin Airport where it was met by medical personnel and United customer service staff,” the spokesperson said.“One customer was taken to hospital to receive medical attention and has since been discharged.
