NOLA’s ‘The Last Waltz’ Supergroup Tribute Concert Adds Second Date

first_imgLast week, we reported on a very special tribute to The Last Waltz, the final performance held by The Band in 1976 that featured an incredible array of guest musicians. Taking place in New Orleans on April 30th, during Jazz Fest season at the Saenger Theatre, the event will be led by Warren Haynes and will see performances from John Medeski, Don Was, George Porter Jr., Jamey Johnson, Dave Malone, Mark Mullins throughout the night.As tickets for the first show were snatched up quickly, the organizers of the event have decided to add a second date. The same lineup will also hit the Saenger on April 29th, in order to accommodate more fans eager to celebrate the music of The Band. Special guests are also expected to be added to the lineup as well, making this quite the exciting affair.The show will also serve as a memorial for Allen Toussaint, who was the horn section musical director during the original Last Waltz. Toussaint passed away on November 10th, 2015.Tickets for the April 29th show are still available, and can be found via Ticketmaster.last_img
