DraftKings LSU vs. Alabama DFS Picks: Showdown advice for ‘Game of the Century’ CFB daily fantasy contests

first_imgMarshall hasn’t been as consistent as Chase or Jefferson, but he’s always on the field and is nearly as prone to big plays. As our second-cheapest play, we’ve gotta love his home run potential.FLEX: K Cade York, LSU ($3,600)If we’re all in on the LSU offense, we might as well wrap it up with the Tigers’ kicker. It’s hard in a lot of these college football single-game contests to have any grasp of which player at the bottom of a depth chart will play on a given day, so the kicker is more assured production. DraftKings Showdown CFB DFS Picks: Alabama vs. LSUCaptain (1.5x price, 1.5x points): WR Ja’Marr Chase, LSU ($12,900)To complete this lineup construction, we had to take a step down from the slightly higher priced Justin Jefferson to Chase. They’ve basically alternated games as the Tigers’ most productive WR, so it’s really more a coin flip than anything. Because of that, we’ll take the $900 savings and plug Chase in as our big-play captain.FLEX: QB Joe Burrow, LSU ($10,600)Leaning LSU in this game means we’ve gotta go with Burrow. Yeah, Alabama’s defense is good, but you can’t play a contest for this game without one of the QBs, and we’ll go with the sure thing that is Burrow versus some injury question marks on the Alabama side.FLEX: RB Najee Harris, Alabama ($8,200)This isn’t your older brother’s LSU-Alabama game, but the Crimson Tide would still be wise to attempt to establish the run, whether Tua is playing or not. If he’s in, running more will keep his ankle out of early trouble, and if he’s out, it’s all the more reason for ‘Bama to trust its workhorse running back.FLEX: WR Devonta Smith, Alabama ($7,600)We couldn’t afford Jerry Jeudy here, so we’ll settle for Alabama’s second-most productive receiver in Smith. If you want a less common lineup, you can pay a bunch down and go to Henry Ruggs, but Smith has a slightly higher probability of having a good game. FLEX: WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU ($6,800) LSU vs. Alabama. No. 1 vs. No. 2. The Game of the Century. Call it what you want, but Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET will feature the most-hyped game of the college football regular season. We haven’t done DraftKings Showdown lineups for any other CFB games, and we may not again, but this one is deserving of some college fantasy football DFS lineup picks and advice. College football is more prone to blowouts than the NFL is, even in a game such as thi, sso we’ve got to commit to one side in hopes of jamming our lineup with the team that comes out on top. For this game, we’re taking the Tigers to best the Crimson Tide. That starts with our captain pick, where we go with a wide receiver as we’ve done often in NFL contests. LSU has three explosive wideouts, but we’ll take the middle-priced one, Ja’Marr Chase, to lead the charge. Of course, we have to pair him with QB Joe Burrow. Tua Tagovailoa’s health isn’t the only reason we’re not playing him here — pricing affects that, too — but with an ankle injury that could affect his performance even if he plays, we’re generally favoring the Tigers.last_img read more

The date for the women’s marathon is set for Aug. 2 and the men’s for Aug. 9. In consideration of the high temperatures, the committee changed the start time of the marathon events to 7 a.m. from 7:30 a.m., the time stated when the committee launched its bid to host the 2020 Games.A senior committee official said some people were of the opinion that it would be hot even at 7 a.m. But the side representing athletes said it would be difficult for athletes if the start time was set too early as they wake up at least three hours before the start of their races, so the committee settled on a 7 a.m. start, according to the official.FEATURED STORIESSPORTSGinebra beats Meralco again to capture PBA Governors’ Cup titleSPORTSJapeth Aguilar wins 1st PBA Finals MVP award for GinebraSPORTSGolden State Warriors sign Lee to multiyear contract, bring back ChrissHowever, the temperature exceeded 40 C for the first time in Tokyo on July 23, during a scorching summer heat wave. If daylight saving time was adopted, competitions in the morning would be shifted to hours when temperatures are relatively cool. But events such as soccer and rugby, which are scheduled to take place in the evening, would be held when temperatures are high. The competition time schedules are decided based on various conditions, including those related to each sport’s organizations, TV broadcast hours at home and abroad, and public transportation services.A source linked to the Games said, “I wonder if it would be possible to shift the start times of all the events uniformly by introducing daylight saving time.”On Sept. 11, Mori said, “Some members of the National Governors’ Association proposed holding the event at night.” But a source knowledgeable about marathon running said a night race would make it difficult for athletes, who are accustomed to competing in the morning and daytime, to coordinate their conditioning.ADVERTISEMENT Japeth Aguilar embraces role, gets rewarded with Finals MVP plum MOST READ Allen Durham still determined to help Meralco win 1st PBA title Tim Cone, Ginebra set their sights on elusive All-Filipino crown TOKYO — There is no end in sight for discussions over the time schedule for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics marathon, which is expected to be impacted by the extreme summer heat. The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has set the marathon’s start time at 7 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than initially planned. October optionThere have been persistent calls for the 2020 Games to be held in October, like the 1964 Games in Tokyo. In recent years, however, it has been common to hold the Summer Olympics in July and August. Since the 1992 Barcelona Games, the Olympics has been held in July and August, except for the 2000 Sydney Games. When bidding to host the 2020 Games, Doha proposed holding them in October. But the Qatari capital failed in the bid, with the IOC expressing a view that holding the Games in October would conflict with other major sports events. Meanwhile, Tokyo won its bid after claiming that with many sunny and warm days, the Japanese capital has an ideal climate in which athletes can perform at their best.A senior official of the Tokyo metropolitan government said, “As we were responsible for making the bid, it’s extremely difficult for us to ask for the schedule to be changed at this stage.”But a source close to the organizing committee said, “It’s necessary to consider changing the start time for at least the marathon and race walking, which are likely to take place under scorching conditions.”Takaaki Matsumoto, a professor of environmental physiology at Chukyo University, said:  “Under the current start time, there will be a high risk of heatstroke on most parts of the course. To protect the health of athletes and spectators, it’s essential to move the start time forward.”Sports Related Videospowered by AdSparcRead Nextlast_img read more
