New Year starts with flurry of new estate agency branch openings

first_imgThe New Year has kicked off with a flurry of new estate agency branch openings and business expansions within the property industry, including most recently a new office for Martin & Co.Its Ashford franchisee Kevin Hall has launched a new branch outside the Kent town in the village of Wye after acquiring a 100-property lettings portfolio and some staff from rival Foxwood Maclean.Hall also operates a branch in Canterbury on the city’s historic Castle Street and, since starting the business nine years ago after a career in the City, now looks after 1,000 properties.“I was previously nervous of franchises, but Martin & Co has proved it is in for the long term and without the Group’s support and advice I would certainly not have the successful businesses that I do now,” he says.ChancellorsOther expansion around the UK includes Chancellors, which is to open a new branch on the outskirts of Swindon as a huge new homes construction site gets underway on its eastern fringes. In East Anglia, estate agent Moneyproperties is to open a second branch in Attleborough after many years operating solely from Wymondham, while Norwich estate agent Christine Mallinder, who has worked for several corporate agencies, recently set up her own estate agency, Vario.Derbyshire firm Amber Homes has also joined the fray, announcing that it has bought a commercial site after deciding to withdraw from its high street premises in Ripley and move into a new office in Alfreton.“It became apparent to us that today’s house purchaser doesn’t visit an estate agency on the High Street, instead relying more on sites such as Rightmove to do their research,” says director Daniel Housley.“The offices we now have in Alfreton will enable us to grow the business in the future by offering the support of a mortgage advisor and savings/insurance expert.”Moneyproperties Vario Amber Homes Ashford Kent martin and co January 13, 2020Nigel LewisWhat’s your opinion?
